Our department houses a state of the art Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU) which focuses on non-communicable disease research with current key focus on haematopathology, especially haemoglobinopathies. About 16Path
16Path
16Path is a novel, web-based learning initiative by Dr. Madhumita Kurdukar and Dr. Kaustubh Chaudhari of the Department of Pathology of Dr V. M. Govt. Medical College, Solapur. This web portal integrates futuristic and digital learning techniques in a simple yet intuitive design to enhance the training of Pathology. It aims at keeping up with the trend of self-learning in a post pandemic world while still ensuring that the insight-driven classroom training tradition remains intact.
Several modules like 16Path cards, live gross and microscopy demonstrations, and specimen screening protocol are one of their kind contributions by VMPath to the world of academic Pathology. Besides these, the riddles, MCQ tickers, specimen posters, research posters, lab procedure demonstrations, and patient information material are other learning aids that intend to keep the visitor engaged and informed.
Solapur (/so.la.puːɾ/) is a collection of 16 (sola in Hindi) villages and referred to as 16pur in SMS acronyms. The creators came up with a quirky name 16Path instead of VMPath to credit the Pathologists of the entire city and its patients instead of just the department. This leaves room for all 16purkars to contribute to this learning initiative and get credited for it.
